With his illustrious voice and smooth style, Beau Williams captured the heart of America on Star Search in 1984 when he defeated thirteen-week champion Sam Harris. Whether crooning love ballads or being an instrument of praise as he sings gospel, for more than 30 years, Williams consistently delivers impeccable performances for eager, adoring fans. Always ready, Williams performances are captivating and inspiring.
Born to a Baptist preacher and choir director, the Houston, Texas native’s musical roots are firmly gospel and filled with soul. Beau started singing as a child and gained regional fame after making appearances on a local television show and releasing his first album, “Bodacious.”
Undeniable talent and performance prowess landed Williams a deal with Capitol Records and album releases in 1982 (self-titled), 1983 (Stay with Me), 1984 (Bodacious), and 1984 (No More Tears).
Eager to return to his gospel roots, Beau signed with Light Records. His 1989 project, “Wonderful” debuted at number nine on Billboard, landed at two, and stayed in the top ten for fifty-eight consecutive weeks. “Wonderful” earned a Dove, Stellar, Angel, Excellence, and James Cleveland Award as well as a Grammy nomination.
Although Williams left the national spotlight, the singer has continued to release gospel music independently under his label, ElBeau Records.
In September 2019, Williams is slated to release God Kept Me, his highly anticipated gospel music single featuring The Hamiltones.
Beau lives in Houston, Texas with Elvina, his wife of 45 years.
